Suffering

10 Dec

With Adam and Eve having given mankind original sin, they also brought upon many other terrible things.  To sum up the many things, we can call those things “suffering”.  We suffer daily from many things like, sickness, disease, through emotions, in a physical sense, and much more.  We suffer not only because of Adam and Eve, but because Satan will do anything to keep us from coming closer to God.  God won’t give us more than we can handle and He allows us to suffer so that we may grow stronger in faith.  While Satan brings forth the suffering, God will bring good out of every bad situation.  Don’t be afraid of suffering, because the more you are afraid of it, the more you are prone to it.  If you’re feeling depressed, listen to some good music or pray.  You might want to pick up a spiritual director, try reading the Bible.  There are many ways that you can get over emotional suffering.  A lot of times we over think things and are paranoid about things when we really just need to relax and know that everything will be okay!  If you feel that your suffering is overbearing, know that you are doing the right thing (God’s Will) and Satan realizes it.  When Satan realizes that you are coming closer to God he will try to stop you because Satan cannot stand to see anyone do the Will of God.  Suffering is not necessarily a bad thing, and we need to go through it to have a closer relationship with God, so that in the end, we may be Saints and spend eternal life with God in Heaven.

Work Hard, Play Hard, Pray Hard

7 Dec

For us, it is easy to go out and play hard and work hard to get what we need.  But, do we really pray hard?  I cannot tell you if you pray or do not pray because I am not you.  But what I can tell you is that there is always room to pray harder.  Sometimes we think that a little bit of pray each day is enough.  Which it truly can be enough but it is that extra effort that we should put in that will give us what we need.  We need God in our lives!  Without God sounds horrific to me.  If we can go to work and put in some over time because the product needs to be finished, if we are playing in a sports game and the game goes into extra innings or over time so that the game may be finished, than we can go into extra innings/overtime with prayer so that our soul may be fulfilled.  Often people get the idea that God wont listen to me because I sinned.  “Jesus is the friends of sinners” as the Christian Rock band, Casting Crowns states in their song  Jesus, Friend of Sinners from the Album, Come to The Well.  We need to remember that Christ loves sinners and gives them graces to be closer to him.  Who is a sinner?  All of us!  Since we all sin, Jesus loves all of us and we should never be afraid to pray to him because he is always listening.  To pray hard is to help your soul come to Christ.  We must play hard so that we can enjoy what we are playing.  We must work hard so that we can provide for our families, so that we can receive good grades in school and get accepted to a good college and to build our knowledge so that our skills may be helpful to the country/world.  Finally, and most importantly, we must pray hard so that we may live our lives as Christ did his.  So that we may live to do His will and not ours.  So that we may help and love others as Christ does for us.  So that we may grow our faith in Christ to help those who are having a hard time believing.  May the grace of Christ shine down forth on you and give you his love so that you may love everyone as he does, and may he give you the gift of strong prayer so that your faith is constantly growing.

Spiritual Warfare

7 Dec

How are we to deal with the temptations of sin that occur every second?  The answer is quite simple, a better prayer life!  If we sit idle and do nothing to help our prayer lives, the temptations of sin will come much easier and more often.  Why? Because our soul wont have enough defense to fight against evil.  The devil will always take the opportunity to tempt us when we are at our weakest moments.  In order for us to stop those attacks, we must be spiritually geared for battle.  There is a 24/7 spiritual warfare around us.  Take a look to your left, to your right, in front of you, behind you, above you, and below you.  Whats there?  Walls, a ceiling, floor, maybe a window or two…Think again.  There are Angels fighting demons so that we may be safe.  It is scary to think about it but it’s truly there and we need to be mindful of that.  When we give ourselves to the temptations of sin, we are helping evil beat good.  We deny God himself by saying no to his will and yes to the devil’s.  We need to keep in mind that we are to do God’s will and not ours.  The only way to defeat evil is to pray often and use the Sacraments of the Catholic Church.  If you feel temptation coming on, renounce Satan and profess your faith as well as your Baptismal promises.  Say the St. Michael Prayer, command what ever spirit, for example, Spirit of sloth, I command you in the Name of Christ to leave, because Christ is present and that is who I want to be present.  Ask God to give you a diameter of say 100 yards (or how much you prefer) from all evil, to strip all evil from all of their weapons and trickery so that you may be able to stay as close to God as possible.  Read the Bible!  Sacred Scripture is one of the greatest tools God gave Catholics.  Our Apostles wrote it!  Use plenty of Holy water and do NOT be afraid to soak your room/house.  Bless yourself daily.  There are many ways to fight against evil and to win the good battle.  Personally, the best way to fight against evil is to use all of the above tools and more.  You can ask your Priest about some good ways to help you.  Not only will these help your fight against the temptation of sin and spiritual warfare, your faith will grow and you will find yourself feeling on top of the world!  To be able to stand up to evil and to feel the love of God is one of the greatest feelings because you can tell you are not alone!  If you look at Psalm 23, “The Lord is my Shepard, there is nothing I shall want,  Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”  We should fear no evil because the Lord is always with us.  He will always protect us if we ask for it.  Remember that we do have to put forth action in order for God to give us what we need to be close to him, however He does give us graces all the time, if we want something, not a car or a house, but the faith we need and tools we need to fight against evil, all he tells us to do is simply ask.

Enjoy the Little Things

3 Dec

Life is too short to not enjoy the little things.  We constantly complain about things when ever they don’t go our way.  We need to realize how blessed we are.  Being a Catholic, I feel so blessed to be able to receive the living God.  How rich our liturgy is and that everything within the liturgy comes straight from the Bible.  We have Adoration, where Christ who is truly present in the Eucharist, is in a beautiful monstrance shining forth his light healing us and giving us love with many graces.  We are so lucky to be alive.  How is it that we just started to breath?  What kick started us?  God!  God gave us life and now we have to live it for him.  There are so many things we take for granted.  For example, helping others out, taking a walk with a friend, money, love, friendships, work, school.  The list could go on and on!  We are always looking to the past pondering on the bad things and what will happen in our future that we fail to notice what is right in front of us now.  Let’s take a minute and look at what we have now and realized how blessed we are and how much better we truly have it than others.  May the Graces of Christ pour into you and give you the virtues of Chastity, Charity, Humility, Humbleness, Love, Honor, Loyalty, The ability to stay away from the temptations of sin, a strong Faith, and Peace in you heart.  I ask this for you through the intercession of all the Saints and Angels and through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

Life

1 Dec

Life is so precious.  Think about that sentence.  What is life truly about?  What are we here for?  There are many questions about life.  The most important thing to understand about life is that God created us to share his love with us, and to spend eternal life with him.  A lot of people don’t understand the true meaning of what life is and how precious a human being really is.  We need to love life and encourage natural family planning.  This is why Abortion is so terrible.  Why are we killing so many innocent souls when we know it’s murder?  Life starts at conception and physical death happens when the soul leaves the body.  We need to realize that at the moment of conception. God gives the child its soul.  How is it that we continue to kill them?  Can’t we see how terrible abortion is?  Say a girl is raped and is impregnated.  Should she get an abortion?  NO!  There are many other options for that child.  We need to understand that the rapist raped the girl not the child.  Why should the child suffer for what the father did?  The child did nothing to that girl.  It was the fault of the father who raped her not the child.  Yes I know that was repetitive and I am sorry if that bored you but I only repeated it because of the situation’s importance.  We are talking about life and death.  Quite frankly we should choose life because Christ would.  If we as Christians accepted contraceptives and abortion, would we really be a Christian?  Would Christ want a child to be murdered or be prevented from coming to be by a condom or pill?  No, of course not; instead, Christ would give his own life in order for a singe child to live.  In fact, he did give his life for his children, the salvation of mankind, therefore giving mankind life…eternal life!  What better gift than the opportunity for eternal life?  We take many of the little things in life for granted and fail to see the big picture in front of us.  God is real and he gives us life.  We should respect our lives as well as other’s lives as we would respect Christ.  Love Christ as you would want him to love you.  Even if you don’t love Christ, he will always love you.  That does not mean you should just go and do your own thing and expect him to love you because that will hurt him.  One of the most powerful weapons for eternal life is knowing that you have the love of God on your side and that nothing will kill your faith.  May the love of God come into you so that you may express his love to others and help them on their journey towards eternal life.
